Six works of art including two editions will be on view and for sale in OH MY! Sensuality Shop in downtown Northampton starting July 14th. Come to the exhibition opening starting at 7pm on July 14th during Northampton Arts Night Out to enjoy some refreshments and hear the artist speak about the work.
Oh My! strives to create a welcoming, inclusive, non-judgemental space that celebrates bodies of all sizes, abilities, and orientations, where people can explore their sexuality. They have generously offered to host this show despite not normally being a gallery space.
5% of all proceeds from artwork sales will be donated to the Trevor Project.
Riley Ames is a trans nonbinary mixed-media artist who uses the aesthetics of pop culture, fashion, and ready-made objects to drive discussion about sex, gender, and identity. Their work is informed by academic research and executed with a wry sense of humor.
Riley graduated from Hampshire college in 2018. Their thesis show, “Straight Acting” questioned why gay men fetishize heteromasculinity, and explored issues of internalized homophobia and misogyny in the gay community. Riley’s more recent work is focused on gender, the body, and language.
