Ceramic tile, acrylic ink, epoxy resin, 3⁄4 subfloor plywood, 1⁄2 cement board, grout, mortar, floor joists, wall studs, nails and screws

A phobia where one is unable to urinate in the real or imaginary presence of others, such as in a public restroom. Otherwise known as “Shy Bladder Syndrome.)

Paruresis (Installation)

A permanent installation created in a public restroom at Hampshire College that is designated as “with urinals”. The piece, entitled “Paruresis,” the medical term for “Shy Bladder Syndrome," consists of a series of ceramic tiles printed with abstracted images of urinals, with bodies either standing at them or not.
